Exterior Shutter Offset Hinges are an alternative option to standard mortised butt or parliament hinges. The curved hinge provides an offset (a.k.a. kick) when opened to help a shutter clear the jamb and align with any casing or edge of the recessed frame. They are traditionally mortised into the jamb however can be surface mounted.
