Dressing up your garage doors to mimic the look of functional carriage doors is a quick way to set you apart in the neighborhood. Improving your curb appeal is easy, damaging your doors is just as easy as well. Here are a few quick variables needed in order to complete the look while maintaining the original roll up panel functionality.
Door Panel Hinge Front Mounting Space
Hinge fronts are designed to fit on the door panels above or below the seam of a roll up garage panel. Not all garage doors are designed the same, a majority of them are designed with raise panels. Double check your mounting space available above and below the seam.

Door Panel Header Gap Space
As the door rolls up, the panels will unfold at the seams as it travels along the track. Double check how much space there is between the front of a door panel and the garage door header. Account for any weather stripping that may be installed. This gap is important as you determine the projection of the handles you choose to install. The projection must be less than the gap. Otherwise you will damage your beautiful garage door and framing with the possibility of not being able to open the door.
