Cast Iron Gate Thumb Latch Kit

This flat black finish cast iron thumb latch kit with heart end handle design is designed to fit light duty gates up to 2 3/4" thick and can be thumb activated on one side of the door. Can be installed on in-swing and out-swing gates.

Using up to 30% recycled material, individual pieces are handmade and hand cast, resulting in each one being a little different then the rest, special if you will.

Iron Valley Gate Thumb Latch Kit Typical Installation:

WARRANTY ADVISORY - All gates require a physical stop to eliminate the gate from swinging inwards and losing the battle to physics. Hinges will snap or compromise the jamb. Drop bars will break or bend as a result of an improperly installed gate.

This kit includes a gate stop that can be installed in various spots to eliminate the gate swinging beyond the point of no return or slamming the drop bar against the jamb. If you use this drop bar as the sole closing device for your gate without a stop in place, the drop bar will be damaged. It cannot withstand a heavy gate closing onto it. This latch set is designed to be used with a gate stop in place to stop the gate slightly before the drop bar connects with the back of the catch. This prevents breakage and bending of the drop bar.

If a weather strip or other device is installed to stop the gate in the proper way, the included gate stop is not necessary.
