About The Series
The Westport Series Shutter Strap Hinge was originally designed as part of a custom shutter hardware solution for an estate in Westport, Connecticut. The project architect specified functional shutter strap hinges that were "not colonial". Our straight-line profile of the hinge is embellished with nicely ground termination and heavily scored accent lines, which we believe to be a quite comfortable & appropriate look for an up-scale project with a french feel - perfect for heavy, turn-of-the-century greystone architecture.
What is Standoff?
There are two schools of thought on a technical specification:
- Hinge Standoff is the measurement from the hinge back to the middle of the hinge knuckle.
- Pintle Standoff is the measurement from the plate back to the middle of the pintle barrel.
- These two measurements when combined create the Offset
- Other manufacturers and suppliers substitute standoff with offset. Either term aside, the hinge and pintle, when installed, combine to hang your open shutter clear of the window jamb and surface of the building.
